The MICRON WIRELESS SwissMet IP67 Bi-FORCE Caliper is a high-resolution digital caliper combining 0.001 mm indication, mechanical bidirectional measuring-force control and IP67-protected electronics. The Bi-FORCE module provides 8 N for external measurements and 4 N for internal measurements, reducing dependence on operator-applied force. Integrated multimode Wireless communication supports measurement transfer to the MDS app or direct HID input. External ceramic-tipped jaws are available as an optional modification.

Description

PRODUCT

The MICRON WIRELESS SwissMet IP67 Bi-FORCE Caliper is a stainless-steel digital caliper designed for dimensional measurements requiring fine resolution, defined contact force and wireless data transfer.

Three measuring ranges are available:

  • 0–150 mm / 0–6″ — ±5 μm accuracy*; 40/16 mm jaws
  • 0–200 mm / 0–8″ — ±8 μm accuracy*; 50/17 mm jaws
  • 0–300 mm / 0–12″ — ±10 μm accuracy*; 60/20 mm jaws

All versions provide 0.001 mm resolution. The specified accuracy values apply to the external jaws; internal-jaw and depth measurements are specified according to ISO 13385-1.

The integrated mechanical Bi-FORCE control module provides two defined measuring-force levels according to measurement direction: 8 N for external measurements and 4 N for internal measurements. This provides controlled mechanical contact force instead of relying only on operator feel.

The standard instrument uses hand-finished stainless-steel measuring surfaces with Ra < 0.32 μm. External ceramic-tipped jaws are available as an optional modification; the ceramic contact surfaces are specified as non-magnetic, non-conductive and wear-resistant.

The caliper incorporates IP67-protected MICRON Swiss electronics, PRESET functionality, mm/inch indication, Auto ON/OFF and a large display with 12 mm digits and refresh rate above 10 readings per second. Maximum slider speed is specified as 2.5 m/s.

Power is supplied by a built-in rechargeable Li-Pol battery using a magnetic charging system.

CONNECTIVITY & DATA

The caliper provides built-in multimode Wireless data transfer with two operating modes:

  • Wireless to MDS app — measurement transfer to supported MDS applications for Windows, Android, iOS and macOS.
  • Wireless HID — direct wireless input to an operating system or application using HID mode.

This allows measured values to be transferred electronically without manual transcription.

The catalog also lists the following separately as optional:

  • MDS Display Unit
  • MDS Software

WHAT PROBLEM DOES IT SOLVE?

A conventional digital caliper can provide an accurate dimensional reading, but the contact force applied by the operator may vary between measurements. This can affect measurement consistency when controlled contact is important.

The Bi-FORCE system addresses this by mechanically defining different forces for the two principal measurement directions: 8 N externally and 4 N internally. This makes the applied force less dependent on operator technique.

The 0.001 mm resolution provides finer indication than a standard 0.01 mm digital caliper, while IP67 protection supports use where the measuring instrument requires increased protection from dust and water ingress.

For measurement workflows that require digital recording, built-in Wireless MDS and HID modes allow results to be transferred directly rather than entered manually.

Where the contact configuration requires it, the optional ceramic-tipped external jaws provide non-magnetic, non-conductive and wear-resistant measuring surfaces.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

For an external measurement, the workpiece is positioned between the external measuring jaws and the slider is closed until contact is established. The mechanical Bi-FORCE module controls the external measuring force at 8 N.

For an internal measurement, the internal jaws are positioned against the measured surfaces and the Bi-FORCE system provides a reduced 4 N internal measuring force.

The electronic measuring system detects the jaw position and shows the measured value on the large digital display with 0.001 mm resolution. The operator can work in millimetres or inches and use the PRESET function where required.

When data recording is needed, the displayed measurement can be transmitted wirelessly to the MDS application or directly through Wireless HID mode.

WHERE IS IT USED?

The caliper is intended for precision dimensional inspection requiring a combination of:

  • external, internal and depth measurement;
  • 0.001 mm digital indication;
  • defined bidirectional measuring force;
  • IP67-protected electronic construction;
  • wireless measurement-data transfer.

The optional external ceramic-tipped jaw version is available where ceramic contact properties—non-magnetic, non-conductive and wear-resistant measuring surfaces—are required.

CONFIGURATION & CUSTOMIZATION

Standard configuration:
Hand-finished stainless-steel measuring surfaces, Ra < 0.32 μm.

Available option:
External ceramic-tipped jaws. The ceramic modification retains the same listed measuring ranges, resolution, accuracy classes, Bi-FORCE levels, IP67 protection and Wireless functions while replacing the external measuring contacts with ceramic-tipped surfaces.

Available ranges are 0–150, 0–200 and 0–300 mm.

A calibration certificate compliant with ISO/IEC 17025 / ILAC MRA is included with the instrument.

All MICROTECH calipers has hand finished measuring jaws and pass metrological control in ISO 17025 lilac accredited laboratory with no extra cost calibration certificate,
