0–300 / 500 / 600 mm | 0.01 mm Resolution | ±30 μm Accuracy | IP67 | Wireless MDS + HID

The WIRELESS SwissMet IP67 caliper external knife-edge jaws is a stainless-steel digital caliper for external and internal dimensional measurement over ranges up to 600 mm. Its extended jaws and narrow external knife-edge geometry provide access to recessed, stepped and restricted measuring locations where conventional short or broad jaws cannot contact the required surfaces correctly. Swiss IP67 electronics, PRESET and integrated multimode Wireless data transfer make this version suitable for large-part measurement with direct digital result transmission.

Description

PRODUCT

The WIRELESS SwissMet IP67 caliper is available in three measuring ranges:

  • 0–300 mm / 0–12″ — ±30 μm accuracy, 60/40 mm jaws
  • 0–500 mm / 0–20″ — ±30 μm accuracy, 100/30 mm jaws
  • 0–600 mm / 0–24″ — ±30 μm accuracy, 100/30 mm jaws

All versions provide 0.01 mm resolution and use a 17 × 5 mm bar section.

The extended jaws position the measuring contacts farther from the caliper beam, allowing dimensions located deeper on a workpiece to be reached. The external jaws use a knife-edge measuring geometry, providing a narrow contact profile where adjacent shoulders, steps or surrounding geometry restrict access for conventional broad measuring faces.

The upper jaws incorporate measuring tips for internal measurements above 10 mm.

The stainless-steel measuring surfaces are hand finished to Ra <0.32 μm. Swiss electronics provide a large display with 12 mm digits, PRESET, mm/inch switching, automatic ON/OFF and slider speeds up to 2.5 m/s.

The electronic system is protected to IP67 according to IEC 60529.

Power is supplied by a built-in rechargeable Li-Pol battery with a magnetic charging system.

CONNECTIVITY & DATA

The caliper incorporates MULTIMODE WIRELESS data transfer with two operating modes:

  • Wireless to the MDS app for Windows, Android, iOS and macOS
  • Wireless HID for direct measurement-data input to compatible operating systems and applications

Wireless HID allows the measured value to be transferred directly without a cable, while MDS connectivity supports measurement-data collection through MICROTECH software.

Free versions of the MDS app are included in the delivery set.

WHERE IS IT USED AND WHAT TASKS DOES IT SOLVE?

  • Recessed external dimensions — when the required measuring surfaces are positioned away from the outside edge of the part, the long jaws extend past surrounding geometry to reach them.
  • External dimensions beside shoulders or steps — broad standard jaws can interfere with adjacent surfaces; the knife-edge contacts provide a narrower measuring profile.
  • Large external dimensions up to 600 mm — the extended measuring ranges allow wide parts and features to be checked with the same caliper measuring principle.
  • Internal dimensions above 10 mm — the upper jaws with measuring tips contact the internal surfaces of openings where an internal caliper measurement is required.
  • Repeated measurements requiring digital recording — built-in Wireless MDS and HID transmission eliminate manual transcription of displayed values into compatible software or data-entry applications.

WHAT PROBLEM DOES IT SOLVE?

A conventional caliper with short, broad external jaws can be unable to reach a dimension located behind an edge, beside a shoulder or deeper within the geometry of a workpiece. Even when the nominal measuring range is sufficient, the jaw shape can prevent the measuring faces from reaching the actual surfaces that define the dimension.

The combination of long jaws and external knife-edge contacts reduces this access limitation. The narrow contact geometry reaches restricted external surfaces, while the increased jaw length moves the contact point farther from the beam.

For inspection workflows requiring measurement records, the Wireless version also removes the need to read and manually re-enter each result.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

For external measurement, the workpiece is positioned between the lower jaws and the slider is moved until the knife-edge measuring contacts touch the two surfaces defining the required dimension. The electronic measuring system converts the slider position into a digital value shown on the large display.

For internal dimensions above 10 mm, the upper jaws with measuring tips are inserted into the opening and expanded until they contact the internal surfaces.

The result can be read directly on the instrument or transferred wirelessly through MDS or HID mode. PRESET allows a reference value to be entered when required by the measurement setup.
