PRODUCT

The WIRELESS MICRON SwissMet IP67 Digital Caliper combines a stainless-steel caliper mechanism with a 0.001 mm digital reading system and integrated wireless data output.

Three measuring ranges are available:

• 0–150 mm / 0–6″ — ±15 μm accuracy on external jaws, 40/16 mm jaws
• 0–200 mm / 0–8″ — ±15 μm accuracy on external jaws, 50/17 mm jaws
• 0–300 mm / 0–12″ — ±20 μm accuracy on external jaws, 60/20 mm jaws

The stated accuracy applies to the external jaws; internal-jaw and depth measurements are specified according to ISO 13385.

The electronic system provides 0.001 mm resolution, mm/inch indication, PRESET and automatic ON/OFF. The large display uses 12 mm digits with a refresh rate above 10 readings per second, while the slider supports speeds up to 2.5 m/s.

The standard caliper uses stainless-steel construction with hand-finished measuring surfaces, Ra < 0.32 μm. The electronics are protected to IP67 according to IEC 60529.

Power is supplied by a built-in rechargeable Li-Pol battery with a magnetic charging system. A calibration certificate according to ISO 17025 / ILAC MRA is included.

CONNECTIVITY & DATA

The caliper uses MICROTECH HYBRID WIRELESS mode, providing two data-transfer methods:

• Wireless to MDS applications for Windows, Android, iOS and macOS
• Wireless HID mode for direct measurement-data input to an operating system or application

This allows measured values to be transferred electronically instead of being entered manually.

The source also lists DataMet Button, DataMet Footswitch, MDS Display Unit and MDS Software as optional equipment.

WHAT PROBLEM DOES IT SOLVE?

Conventional 0.01 mm digital calipers may not provide sufficiently fine indication when smaller dimensional changes must be observed. The 0.001 mm resolution of the MICRON system provides finer measurement indication while retaining the familiar caliper format for external, internal and depth measurements.

Wireless output also reduces the need to manually transcribe measured values into software or inspection records.

For applications requiring different measuring-surface properties, the caliper can additionally be supplied with optional external ceramic-tipped jaws. The source specifies these ceramic contacts as non-magnetic, non-conductive and wear-resistant, providing an alternative to the standard stainless-steel measuring surfaces.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The operator positions the appropriate measuring surfaces on the required feature: the external jaws for outside dimensions, the internal jaws for inside dimensions, or the depth measuring element for depth measurements.

Movement of the caliper slider is detected by the MICRON electronic measuring system and converted into a digital value with 0.001 mm resolution. The result is shown on the large display and can be transferred wirelessly through either the MDS or HID data mode.

The PRESET function allows a predefined reference value to be entered where required by the measurement setup.

CONFIGURATION & CUSTOMIZATION

Standard configuration: stainless-steel caliper with hand-finished measuring surfaces.

Available modification: external ceramic-tipped measuring jaws, specified as non-magnetic, non-conductive and wear-resistant.

The ceramic-jaw version changes the external measuring-contact material while retaining the MICRON electronic system, available measuring ranges, IP67 protection and wireless data functions of the instrument.
