The WIRELESS MICRON SwissMet IP67 LONG JAW digital caliper is a high-resolution long-range digital caliper for external dimensional measurement on large workpieces and features located deep from an accessible edge. Measuring ranges extend from 500 to 6000 mm, while 150 or 300 mm long jaws provide increased reach from the caliper beam. With 0.001 mm resolution, IP67 Swiss electronics, a rechargeable Li-Pol battery and multimode wireless data transfer, this version combines long-reach measurement with finer indication and direct digital data collection.

Description

PRODUCT

The WIRELESS MICRON SwissMet IP67 LONG JAW is a stainless-steel digital caliper designed for measurements where both a large measuring span and extended jaw reach are required.

The 150 and 300 mm jaws position the measuring contact substantially farther from the beam than conventional caliper jaws. This allows opposing external surfaces to be contacted even when the required measuring position is located deep on the workpiece and the caliper body cannot be positioned close to the measurement plane.

Available configurations cover:

  • 0–500 mm — 300 mm jaws, ±30 μm accuracy
  • 0–1000 mm — 150 mm jaws / ±35 μm or 300 mm jaws / ±50 μm
  • 0–1500 mm — 150 mm jaws / ±50 μm or 300 mm jaws / ±60 μm
  • 0–2000 mm — 150 mm jaws / ±60 μm or 300 mm jaws / ±70 μm
  • 0–2500 mm — 300 mm jaws, ±70 μm
  • 0–3000 mm — 300 mm jaws, ±80 μm
  • 0–4000 mm — 300 mm jaws, ±100 μm
  • 0–5000 mm — 300 mm jaws, ±120 μm
  • 0–6000 mm — 300 mm jaws, ±180 μm

All versions provide 0.001 mm resolution. The stainless-steel measuring surfaces are hand finished to Ra <0.32 μm. Swiss electronics are installed in an aluminium housing with IP67 protection and provide PRESET, mm/inch switching and automatic ON/OFF.

Power is supplied by a built-in rechargeable Li-Pol battery with a magnetic charging system.

CONNECTIVITY & DATA

The caliper incorporates MULTIMODE WIRELESS data transfer with two operating modes:

  • Wireless MDS — measurement transfer to the MDS app on Windows, Android, iOS and macOS
  • Wireless HID — direct transfer of measurement values to operating systems and applications using HID mode

This allows measured dimensions to be transferred directly during inspection instead of being manually read from the display and re-entered into a computer or mobile device.

WHERE IS IT USED AND WHAT TASKS DOES IT SOLVE?

  • Large workpiece → external width or distance between opposing surfaces → measurement span exceeds conventional caliper capacity → measuring ranges up to 6000 mm provide the required span.
  • Deep external feature → measuring surfaces positioned 150–300 mm from the accessible edge → standard short jaws cannot reach the required measurement plane → long jaws place the contacts deeper on the part.
  • Stepped or recessed geometry → required external surfaces are located behind surrounding geometry → the extended jaws reach the contact surfaces while keeping the beam outside the obstructing area.
  • Large component with multiple inspection points → measurements must be recorded repeatedly → Wireless MDS or HID transfers values directly for digital recording instead of manual transcription.
  • Long-range measurement requiring finer indication → conventional 0.01 mm long-jaw caliper provides insufficient displayed resolution → the MICRON version provides 0.001 mm resolution.

WHAT PROBLEM DOES IT SOLVE?

Large workpieces create two separate measurement problems: insufficient measuring span and insufficient jaw reach.

A conventional caliper may have enough nominal range but still be unable to reach the required surfaces because the measurement plane is located too far from the workpiece edge. The 150 or 300 mm jaws extend the contact position away from the beam so the caliper can reach these deeper external surfaces.

The MICRON version also addresses measurements that require finer digital indication. Its 0.001 mm resolution is ten times finer than the 0.01 mm resolution of the standard SwissMet IP67 LONG JAW version.

For repeated measurements, integrated wireless transfer eliminates the separate step of manually entering displayed values into a digital inspection record.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The required measuring range and jaw length are selected according to the size of the workpiece and the depth of the measuring position.

The slider is moved until the long jaws can be positioned on the two opposing external measuring surfaces. The jaws are brought into contact with the part, and displacement of the slider is converted by the Swiss electronic measuring system into the displayed dimensional value.

PRESET can be used when a predefined reference value is required. Measurements can be read directly on the display or transmitted wirelessly through MDS or HID mode.

After measurement, the built-in Li-Pol battery is recharged through the magnetic charging system.
