PRODUCT

The SwissMet IP67 Digital Caliper combines a stainless-steel caliper mechanism with a Swiss electronic measuring system and 0.01 mm resolution.

Three measuring ranges are available:

• 0–150 mm / 0–6″ — ±20 μm accuracy on external jaws, 40/16 mm jaws
• 0–200 mm / 0–8″ — ±20 μm accuracy on external jaws, 50/17 mm jaws
• 0–300 mm / 0–12″ — ±30 μm accuracy on external jaws, 60/20 mm jaws

The specified accuracy applies to the external jaws; internal-jaw and depth measurements are specified according to ISO 13385.

The standard instrument uses hand-finished stainless-steel measuring surfaces with Ra < 0.32 μm. For applications requiring a different contact configuration, MICROTECH also provides a modification with upper and lower carbide jaws.

The electronic system provides PRESET, mm/inch conversion, HOLD and automatic ON/OFF functions. Measurement values are shown on a large display with 12 mm-high digits and a refresh rate above 10 readings per second. Maximum slider speed is specified up to 2.5 m/s.

The caliper has IP67 protection according to IEC 60529 and is powered by a 3 V CR2032 battery. A calibration certificate according to ISO/IEC 17025 / ILAC MRA is included.

CONNECTIVITY & DATA

The caliper incorporates an S_connect data output for transferring measurement values to an external system.

A SwissMet data cable / USB cable is optional and is not part of the standard instrument configuration.

WHAT PROBLEM DOES IT SOLVE?

The SwissMet IP67 Digital Caliper provides one instrument for routine measurement of external, internal and depth dimensions while adding electronic indication, PRESET functionality and data output.

Its IP67-protected electronic system is intended for measuring conditions where protection of the instrument electronics is required. The large 12 mm-digit display and fast refresh rate provide clear, continuously updated indication during slider movement.

For measurements where standard stainless-steel contacts are not the preferred configuration, the optional upper and lower carbide-jaw modification provides an alternative measuring-contact version without changing the basic measuring range and electronic functions.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The operator positions the appropriate measuring surfaces on the feature being inspected: the external jaws for outside dimensions, the internal jaws for inside dimensions, or the depth-measuring element for depth measurements.

Movement of the slider is detected by the electronic measuring system and the measured value is shown directly on the digital display. The operator can switch between millimetres and inches, retain a reading with HOLD, or use PRESETwhen a predefined reference value is required.

When measurement data needs to be transferred externally, the S_connect output can be used with the optional data cable.

WHERE IS IT USED?

The SwissMet IP67 Digital Caliper is designed for dimensional inspection tasks requiring measurement of:

• external dimensions;
• internal dimensions;
• depth dimensions.

The available 150, 200 and 300 mm versions allow the measuring range and jaw dimensions to be selected according to the size of the part or feature being inspected.

CONFIGURATION & CUSTOMIZATION

Standard configuration: hand-finished stainless-steel measuring surfaces, IP67 electronic system and S_connect data output.

Available option: modification with upper and lower carbide jaws, available for the 150, 200 and 300 mm versions.

Optional interface: SwissMet data cable / USB cable for the S_connect output.

A 0–150 mm round-rod version is also listed as a separate configuration.
