The WIRELESS MICRON SwissMet IP67 Bi-FORCE LONG JAW digital caliper is a precision stainless-steel caliper for external and internal dimensional measurement over ranges up to 600 mm. Extended 100 or 150 mm jawsreach measuring surfaces positioned farther from the workpiece edge, while the patented Bi-FORCE control moduleapplies 8 N for external measurements and 4 N for internal measurements. With 0.001 mm resolution, IP67 protection and multimode wireless data transfer, this version is designed for long-reach measurements that also require controlled measuring force and direct digital data collection.

Description

PRODUCT

The WIRELESS MICRON SwissMet IP67 Bi-FORCE LONG JAW digital caliper combines extended measuring reach with controlled bidirectional measuring force and wireless data transfer.

Available configurations are:

  • 0–300 mm / 0–12″ — 100 mm jaws, ±10 μm accuracy
  • 0–400 mm / 0–16″ — 100 mm jaws, ±12 μm accuracy
  • 0–500 mm / 0–20″ — 100 mm jaws, ±15 μm accuracy
  • 0–500 mm / 0–20″ — 150 mm jaws, ±20 μm accuracy
  • 0–600 mm / 0–24″ — 100 mm jaws, ±20 μm accuracy

All versions provide 0.001 mm resolution and use a 17 × 5 mm caliper bar.

The long jaws position the measuring contacts farther from the beam, allowing external and internal features located deeper on a workpiece to be reached without interference from the caliper body. The upper jaws are intended for internal dimensions above 10 mm.

The Bi-FORCE control module provides two defined measuring forces according to measurement direction: 8 N for external measurements and 4 N for internal measurements. This replaces uncontrolled hand pressure with a defined force condition during contact measurement.

MICRON Swiss electronics provide a large display with 12 mm digits, PRESET, mm/inch switching and automatic ON/OFF. Maximum slider speed is 2.5 m/s.

The caliper is manufactured from stainless steel, with hand-finished measuring surfaces to Ra <0.32 μm, and the electronic system is protected to IP67.

WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY & DATA

The wireless version uses MULTIMODE WIRELESS data transfer with two operating modes:

  • Wireless MDS — transfers measurement data to the MICROTECH MDS app for Windows, Android, iOS and macOS
  • Wireless HID — sends measurement values directly to an operating system or application as HID input

This allows measurement results to be transferred without a physical data cable during inspection.

The instrument uses a built-in rechargeable Li-Pol battery with a magnetic charging system.

Optional data-system components include the DataMet Button, DataMet Footswitch, MDS Display Unit and MDS Software.

WHERE IS IT USED AND WHAT TASKS DOES IT SOLVE?

  • Deep external dimensions on stepped or recessed workpieces — standard short jaws can be blocked by surrounding geometry before reaching the required measuring plane. The 100 or 150 mm long jaws move the contact surfaces farther from the caliper beam.
  • Internal dimensions located deeper from an accessible edge — the extended upper jaws reach internal measuring positions that conventional short-jaw calipers cannot access. Internal measurement is intended for dimensions above 10 mm.
  • Large components with measurement positions away from the workpiece edge — ranges up to 600 mmcombine larger dimensional capacity with extended jaw reach, allowing both the size and location of the measured feature to be accommodated.
  • Measurements requiring controlled contact force — manually applied caliper pressure can vary between operators or successive measurements. The Bi-FORCE module establishes 8 N external and 4 N internal measuring force, creating a defined contact condition for each measuring direction.
  • Repeated inspection with digital result collection — manually reading the display and entering each result separately adds an additional data-handling step. Wireless MDS and HID transfer send measurement values directly to compatible digital workflows.

WHAT PROBLEM DOES IT SOLVE?

A conventional caliper can be limited by both jaw reach and uncontrolled measuring force.

When the required measuring surfaces are recessed or positioned far from the edge of a component, short jaws can contact surrounding geometry before their measuring faces reach the correct location. The extended 100 or 150 mm jaws provide the additional reach required to access these measurement planes.

At the same time, ordinary manual caliper measurement depends on the force applied by the operator when closing or opening the jaws. The Bi-FORCE control module provides defined external and internal forces, making the contact condition part of the instrument rather than relying only on hand pressure.

The wireless version also addresses repeated manual transcription of readings by transferring measurement values electronically through MDS or HID mode.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

For an external measurement, the workpiece is positioned between the lower measuring jaws and the slider is moved until the measuring surfaces contact the required feature. The Bi-FORCE module applies an 8 N external measuring force, and the measured dimension is shown on the digital display.

For internal measurements above 10 mm, the upper jaws are positioned inside the feature and opened to contact the internal surfaces. In this measuring direction, the Bi-FORCE module provides a 4 N internal force.

The extended jaws allow these contact points to be positioned deeper from the workpiece edge than with a conventional short-jaw caliper.

The measurement can then be transferred wirelessly either to the MDS app or through Wireless HID directly to a compatible operating system or application.

CONFIGURATION

Standard range and jaw configurations:

  • 0–300 mm — 100 mm jaws
  • 0–400 mm — 100 mm jaws
  • 0–500 mm — 100 mm jaws
  • 0–500 mm — 150 mm jaws
  • 0–600 mm — 100 mm jaws

The 150 mm jaw version is selected when the measuring point lies farther from the accessible workpiece edge and additional reach is required.

The wireless version is selected when long-reach Bi-FORCE measurement must be combined with cable-free transfer of measurement results, rechargeable operation and direct integration with MDS or HID data collection.

A calibration certificate ISO 17025 / ILAC MRA and magnetic charging cable are included.
