The EvoMet MOTORIZED BRINELL hardness tester measures Brinell hardness over a range of 8–650 HBW with 0.1 HBW resolution.

The machine provides test forces from 612.9 to 29421 N. Loading, holding and unloading of the selected force are motorized and operated through AUTO modes, eliminating the need to perform these stages manually during each test.

Dwelling time can be set from 1 to 99 seconds.

The tester accommodates workpieces up to 330 mm in height and provides a 165 mm throat depth, allowing the indentation point to be positioned on parts of different sizes and geometries.

Different anvils support workpieces with different contact shapes, including:

• large flat anvil;
• small flat anvil;
• V-notch anvil.

Tungsten-carbide ball penetrators with 2.5, 5 and 10 mm diameters are provided for different Brinell test configurations.

TOUCHSCREEN, DATABASE & TEST FUNCTIONS

The tester is controlled through a multifunctional 8″ touchscreen with an interface available in English, German and Ukrainian.

After the indentation is produced, its measured diameter value is entered manually on the touchscreen and the system calculates the corresponding HBW hardness value.

The touchscreen system also provides:

• automatic hardness-scale conversion;
• grouped memory for more than 2000 values;
• automatic recording of scale, test force and temperature;
• maximum, minimum and average value calculation.

These functions allow repeated hardness measurements to be collected and evaluated directly on the tester instead of recording and calculating individual results separately.

CONNECTIVITY & DATA

Measurement data can be transferred through:

• USB
• RS-232

The system also supports a wireless printer for printing measurement results.

WHERE IS IT USED AND WHAT TASKS DOES IT SOLVE?

The EvoMet MOTORIZED BRINELL hardness tester is intended for hardness testing where a controlled Brinell indentation cycle and evaluation of the resulting impression are required.

Flat workpieces → surface hardness → stable positioning during indentation → flat anvils.
Large and small flat anvils provide suitable support for flat workpieces of different dimensions while the selected test force is applied.

Round or cylindrical workpieces → hardness on an external surface → difficult workpiece support → V-notch anvil.
The V-notch anvil supports cylindrical geometry and helps position the test area beneath the penetrator.

Different Brinell test configurations → different force and ball requirements → wide force range and interchangeable penetrators.
The 612.9–29421 N force range combined with Ø2.5, Ø5 and Ø10 mm carbide balls allows the tester to be configured for different Brinell measurement conditions.

Repeated hardness testing → repeated manual loading and result recording → motorized AUTO cycle and database.
Motorized loading, dwelling and unloading standardize the operating sequence, while the internal database stores more than 2000 measurements and calculates basic statistics.

Large workpieces → test point located away from an edge → workpiece-access limitation → 330 mm height capacity and 165 mm throat depth.
The available testing space provides access to measurement positions that cannot be accommodated by smaller hardness-testing frames.

WHAT PROBLEM DOES IT SOLVE?

Conventional hardness testing can require the operator to control several stages of every measurement separately: applying the test force, maintaining it for the required period, unloading it, recording the indentation measurement and calculating the hardness value.

The EvoMet motorizes the loading, holding and unloading stages and allows the dwelling time to be set directly on the instrument. After the indentation diameter is entered, the touchscreen calculates the HBW result and records measurement data.

For repeated testing, the database and statistical functions reduce separate manual recording and calculation operations while keeping results, test force and measurement information together.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The workpiece is placed on the appropriate anvil and positioned beneath the selected tungsten-carbide ball penetrator.

The required test force and dwelling time are set through the touchscreen. The tester then performs the motorized loading, holding and unloading cycle.

After unloading, the resulting Brinell indentation is measured using the supplied 20× microscope. The measured indentation diameter is entered manually on the touchscreen, and the system calculates the corresponding HBW hardness value.

The result can then be stored in the internal database, evaluated statistically, converted to another hardness scale or transferred through USB or RS-232.
